2010 BET Awards.....a night of Comebacks!

Last night the 2010 BET Awards were full of a lot of awesome performances and appearances. Kanye West opened the show, which was his first appearance since his Taylor Swift interruption on the MTV VMA's last year. We also got a chance to see T.I. return to the spotlight after his recent release from prison. Now BET pulled a fast one on us, because we were not expecting the 1980's hitmaker, El DeBarge. His performances were so awesome, and glad that he is back!

Hands down, the best performance of the evening goes to Chris Brown, with his tribute to the King of Pop. Many say that the way he performed Jackson's signature dance moves with an eerie accuracy. Chris definitely held his own all the way to the moving song "Man in the Mirror" when his emotions got the best of him. Later in the evening, Chris mentioned that he let his fans down before, but made a promise to not let it happen again.

New to the entertainment scene, was Nicki Minaj. She is know for her very animated style and the crazy faces she makes with rapping, but I can say I was disappointed last night with her numerous performances. She already doesn't have the upper hand in the Hip Hop industry because she is a female, so when she decided to perform last night and just have her rapped lyrics play as she moved her mouth to them, was not a good look. So performance is definitely an area she has room to improve in.

Now I was very disappointed with Ms Alicia Keys last night. I am a firm believer of embracing the gift of pregnancy....but everything has to be done tastefully. Her first gown when she accepted her award was gorgeous, but the purple number and those bulky pink shoes she decided to rock for her first performance....was horrible. Thankfully last night was a night a redemption, and many performers received a second opportunity to perform. Alicia was able to pull a better look off with all black for her tribute performance for Prince.

One word for Ms Patti LaBelle's performance....amazing. She was great all the way to the end as she sang "Purple Rain" when she kicked off her $3,000 Christian Louboutin pumps!

We all know that Prince is such a talented and humble man, and he was definitely deserving of his tribute. What was funny is that he wore a tunic with his own image on it, and it looked amazing on him.

These were just a few highlights of the 2010 BET Awards, I can say that this awards show has come a long way, but has plenty of room for improvement. Maybe next year will be a little better...who am I kidding, we have to take baby steps!

She will be joining the likes of Sharon Stone, Charlize Theron, Monica Bellucci, and Jude Law in the fashion house's ads. The brand has yet to release the fragrance the actress will represent, but I'm sure Dior has something great under there sleeves.

"She will symbolize with grace the values of luxury and the glamour of Dior," said Claude Martinez, president and chief executive officer of Parfums Christian Dior.

Foods that are perfect for a Healthy Lifestyle

Many think that shedding a few pounds is something that will be easy and quick, but that's where they go wrong. It has to be about a change in your lifestyle, and in this blog I will give a few tips on what are some of the best foods that can lead you in the right direction to a healthier way of living.

Foods heavy in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, herring, and trout play a key role in keeping our skin smooth. They provide our skin with oils that lubricate and reduce inflammation, which often leads to redness, acne, and scaly skin.

Sweet Potatoes are rich in beta-carotene and, when ingested, are converted into vitamin A, a prime factor in keeping skin soft. And just a little tip, if Sweet Potatoes is not your thing, carrots are great for this as well.

Melons are heavy in carotenoids, which help protect your skin from sunburn.

Many foods with lots of Vitamin C, like kiwi, oranges, and grapefruit are a big skin saver. They stimulate collagen synthesis and protect against wrinkles.

Flaky scalps are often due to low levels of zinc. Oysters are the best food source of zinc, keeping your hair and scalp healthy, if oysters aren't your thing, try dark-meat chicken, turkey, crab, dairy, or beans as an alternate source of zinc.

These are just a few foods that could not only help you shed a few pounds, but have you glowing from head to toe!

The Perfect Pedi on a Budget

Did you know that your feet endure about 10,000 steps a day?

Well I was able to find a few easy tips that can help you out with giving yourself a professional-looking pedicure at home for the times you can't always make it to the nail spa.

1. SOAK YOUR FEET in a large bowl or tub of warm water and rub thoroughly with a great exfoliating foot scrub to cleanse and soften rough skin.

2. SHAPE NAILS with the coarse side of a nail file, then smooth with the fine side, or trim with large nail clippers before smoothing. Soak and wash feet again.

3. USING A PUMICE, smooth out any rough patches. Concentrate on heels and balls of the feet, keeping in mind that tough skin is often there for a reason, so be gentle.

4. RUB CUTICLE REMOVER into the base of each nail, then, using an orangewood stick, gently push skin away from nails on all sides.

5. GENTLY TRIM any loose skin with cuticle trimmers. Rinse feet well, and dry.

6. MOISTURIZE with a body butter, cream, or lotion. Make sure to wipe it from the nail area.

7. SEPARATE TOES with a foam toe separator. Apply your favorite nail color, and then your ready to rock your favorite summer shoe!

Pepto Bismol has more than one use

I was doing a little research online and came across this great beauty tip. We all know that when our stomach is giving us a few problems, we know to reach for the pink stuff. Well I have recently found that Pepto Bismol has another use. Pepto can be used for your face as a quick beauty refresher! If you want a quick pick-me-up, try using it as a mask. The salicylic acid in it works to create a mild acid. You you can apply it to your face with your finger tips, let it sit for a few minutes, then you can peel it off gently from your face. Hope this works out for ya!

Gaultier Exits Hermes

Jean Paul Gaultier has recently announced that he is leaving luxury French fashion label, Hermès. The fashion house has decided to name Christopher Lemaire, who is currently the creative director of Lacoste, as his successor.

"Hermès is deeply grateful to Jean Paul Gaultier for his outstanding creative contribution during these seven years," the company told WWD.

Gaultier has decided to leave after the label's spring/summer 2011 collection is showcased in October and Lemaire will transition in with women's ready-to-wear at the start of the autumn/winter 2011 collection.

Gaultier was appointed artistic director of Hermès in 2003 where he took over from Martin Margiela. He is expected to concentrate on his own ready-to-wear collections and haute couture fashion house, in which Hermès will retain a 45% stake.

Gaultier has had such a successful run over at Hermès, so I can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve for his own fashion house!
