Tips for Fixing Chipped Nails

There are many dreadful things that could happen to a girl, and in my book having a chipped nail is at the top of the list. You can have on the perfect outfit, hair fixed perfectly, and then you look down and see that your nail polish has chipped. Well ladies don't worry because I have found some great tips to help you out with that!

1.Moisten your index fingertip with nail-polish remover on the hand that doesn't have the chipped nail.

2.Rub this finger on the chipped area to smooth away any globs or rough edges.

3.Let it dry and then brush a small amount of nail polish on the chipped area.

4.After the polish has dried, apply a clear coat of nail polish or polish sealant to prevent future chipping.

5.Wipe the polish residue off your fingertip with a cotton ball and nail-polish remover.

**Avoid fast-drying polishes, which tend to chip more easily.**

Tips on Minimizing the Appearance of your Cellulite

Yea I know this is a touchy subject, but we have to talk about it ladies. No, I don't have a magic wand to get rid of your cellulite, but I have found a few tips to minimize the appearance of it. Cellulite is caused by fat cells trapped between layers of connective tissue, making that rippled result.

The first tip I would give for helping out those dimples is none other than exercise. Its easy, free, and has proven results. Now this is not a quick fix overnight, and will require some work, but I can guarantee that you will see results. The best exercises for this would be; Walking, running steps, squats, leg lifts, and leg lunges. By adding some of these exercises in your daily routine, you are sure to see results in not time.

There are also many products out there that claim to do wonders for cellulite as well, but the product that caught my eye was Nivea Body Skin Firming Moisturizer Q10 Plus, retailing around $8.99. It is proven to not only firm, but also visibly tighten skin's surface. The company states that result should be seen after 2 weeks of product use.

Hope that these tips help you out ladies. Yes there are many women to take the easy route and have this problem handled surgically, but why not start with the easy and cost effective ways first!

What shorts are best for your body type?

Shorts with a mid-length leg are usually universally flattering. The inseam is usually 7 or 8 inches and provides ample amount of room for any of your Spring activities!

Knee-length shorts, also known as Bermuda shorts are always a great choice for any size. These shorts cover problem areas like dimpled or flabby thighs.

These are a Shorter Short which usually have a 5 inch inseam, and they are long enough to give some upper-leg coverage, but short enough to lengthen the leg.

Break up a long, thin line with shorts that have cuffs or a roll-up feature. You get maximum usage from shorts that have a convertible length, plus they make even stick-thin legs look curvier.

Spring Trend: Long Cardigans

Long Cardigans are definitely going to be a big hit for this Spring! They're great for layering under jackets or layering tanks or t-shirts underneath them. What is also fun is to wear the cardigan as a minidress with a skinny belt to to spice some things up a bit.

If you want to go for a more practical cardigan look, wear them with skinny jeans or leggings tucked into tall boots. Ralph Lauren does this look with a nice pair of ridding boots, and it looks amazing!

You can easily rock pieces of jewelry like statement necklaces, costume pearls, or big cuff bracelets. So try out these different looks for the cardigans this Spring and see which one works best for you!

Prada In Legal Trouble!

A senior manager at Prada is suing the fashion label claiming that she was ordered to get rid of "old, fat and ugly" staff in the Italian fashion label's Japanese stores.

Rina Bovrisse, a senior retail manager at Prada Japan, also alleges that the chief executive wanted her to change her hairstyle and lose weight in order to fit into the company.

Ms Bovrisse, who oversaw 500 staff in 40 stores across Japan, has launched a discrimination and harassment case against the Italian fashion label in Tokyo's industrial tribunal courts.

Her allegations focus on an incident in May last year when she claims that Davide Sesia, the CEO of Prada Japan, allegedly asked her to "eliminate" around 15 managerial staff he described as "old, fat, ugly, disgusting or not having the Prada look," following a tour of 40 stores.

Immediately after his demands, human resources reportedly notified 13 members of staff with devotional transfer orders due to poor sales, according to Ms Bovrisse, who disclosed details of the case in a Japan Times interview.

Ms Bovrisse alleges that she herself was later summoned to a meeting and informed that Mr Sesia reportedly wanted her to "change her hairstyle, to lose weight" because he was "ashamed of Ms Bovrisse's ugliness, so he doesn't want visitors from Italy to see her".

Ms Bovrisse, who has 18 years experience working in the international fashion industry, was placed on involuntary leave last November and launched her legal case the following month.

Describing why she had launched the claim, Ms Bovrisse said: "My responsibility is to protect hard-working women and make sure their working environment is safe."

A spokeswoman at Prada's Tokyo headquarters told The Daily Telegraph that the company was currently unable to comment.

Quick Tricks to make you look slimmer

While you are in the process of trying to shed those pounds before Summer, here are a few tricks that will help you along the way that will give you instant results!

1. Wear skinny high heels with pointy toes.
Legs look slim and sexy in skirts paired with a shoe that has a tapered toe and at least a 2-inch stiletto. A slender toe and thin heel work to extend the narrow silhouette of calves. Square-toe styles with a thick, chunky heel give the appearance of a shorter, bulky leg.

2. Show some skin up top.
Expose a bit with a V-neckline. The open, upside-down triangle creates a high focal point up and away from your midsection and gives the illusion of a longer, slimmer upper body. The more skin displayed between chin and chest (in moderation), the more elegant your proportions will seem overall; wider V-necklines visually balance broad hips and thighs.

3. Embrace Shapewear.
I gotta tell ya, shapewear will truly save your life! This is not your girdle that your grandmother had, these interchangeable pieces work wonders, while still being comfortable during the day. Get pieces that smooth bulges while lifting breasts and the behind. Shapers with extra-firm tummy control work well worn under shifts and pencil skirts.

4. Stick with one hue.
Tops and bottoms of the same color create an uninterrupted vertical line, making you look thinner and taller. Stark contrasts between your upper and lower body draws eyes to your middle.

5. Use Jewelry Strategically.
*Long necklaces add length to a short neck and bring attention away from hips and to the front and center of your body.
*Mid-chest bibs or big chandeliers say look at the face and not the middle.
*Sparkly cuffs, stacks of bangles, and cocktail rings draw the eye to wrists instead of upper arms.

6. Wear hair up and off your face.
Pull tresses into a ponytail high on the back of your head and then lightly tease at the crown to bring out your bone structure and make your face look thinner.

7. Match your shoe color to your leg.
Coordinate tones to elongate your bottom half. In the Winter, wear black opaque tights and black pumps; in the Summer, try neutral skin-hued versions with bare legs.

8. Pick simple Denim.
The most flattering styles are dark and feature unembellished pockets. Avoid extra details that catch the eye and give the illusion of bulk. Think twice about tags, grommets, or decorative extras. The leanest silhouettes of all: boot cut and straight leg.

9. Invest in underwear that fits.
This is one of the biggest mistakes that women are making, which is wearing the wrong bra! A professional bra fitter can determine if you are wearing a wrong-size band and too-small cups, which neither lift nor shape. Down below, too-snug panties create bulges, while visible panty lines disrupt the clean lines of top layers, contributing to bulk around the butt and hips. Get a smooth rear view with thongs or g-strings, or for more backside coverage, consider seamless panties or cheekies!

Tips for Healthy Nails

To maintain a healthy body is very important, and right along with that comes maintaining healthy nails. I will list 2 of the biggest questions I have come across and answers about keeping healthy nails on an everyday basis.

Is it true that artificial nails will weaken my natural nails?
The biggest time that you will experience a weakening of your natural nails, is when you remove the artificial nails. Wearing artificial nails for an extended period of time can cause fungus to breed. Your natural nail could loose strength that cannot be regained. If artificial nails are a must for you, give them a break every three months, which gives you natural nails time to restore their resilience and strength.

Why have my nails turned yellow?
Discoloration in your nails could mean a few things, and one of the most common reasons is usually due to old nail polish. Nail polish can stain the nail plate that has been left on for too long. Unfortunately another reason of yellow nails could be a fungus. If you notice that the discoloration has not changed after a period of time, then consult your doctor. To maintain healthy nails, it is very important to keep a healthy diet. Calcium is an essential nutrient for your nails, and it can be found in many products such as milk, yogurt, cheese and broccoli.

82nd Annual Academy Awards Best Dressed

There were many disasters that took place at the 82ND annual Academy Awards, but there were some gowns that deserved that high scores that they received. Here's a look at the gowns that I considered some of the best dressed for the evening.

Jennifer Lopez looked amazing in this Pink Armani Prive creation that she said had the "wow factor" that she was looking for in her gown.

Twilight star, Kristen Stewart looked amazing in this midnight blue strapless Monique Lhuillier gown.

As always, Penelope Cruz looked gorgeous in this dusty red draped Donna Karan gown.

This pink ruffled Marchesa gown was really beautiful, but I don't agree that this was the right choice for Vera Farmiga.

Charlize Theron looked beautiful in this lilac Christian Dior gown.

Tina Fey has made a lot of bad calls when it came to the red carpet, but she has turned that around in this muted leopard print Michael Kors gown.

Cameron Diaz looked amazing in this Oscar de la Renta gown for the evening.

Zoe Kravitz looked cute in this pale pink and red velvet strapless dress.

In a beautiful gun metal gray Versace gown, Elizabeth Banks looked amazing.

These were my personal picks for the best dressed at the Oscars last night, unfortunately there weren't too many to choose from.

High Fashions....Low Prices!

OK, so many have come to me and asked how they can get their hands on high end designer items, with affordable price tags. For the past few years now, high end designers have designed affordable collections at various retail chains. Take a look at these great lines that will be hitting the stores this season!

The very talented French designer, Jean Paul Gaultier, has designed a special line specifically for Target. This line is inspired by American culture, both past and present. This collection will hit select Targets on March 7th, and will last until April 11th.

OK so Vera Wang's line, Simply Vera, is not a new line at Kohl's but she has done it again for another season! Not only does Ms. Wang continue to offer chic fashions at affordable prices season after season, but she also offers a line of housewares to make sure your entire lifestyle stays chic!

H&M announced last month that Sonia Rykiel will be releasing part deux of the company's' collaboration, which will feature an incredibly colorful line of knitwear. They have also thrown in a bonus, purchase a Sonia Rykiel H&M bag and part of the proceeds will be donated to UNICEF.

Ever feel guilty about spending big bucks on shoes or a handbag that don't stay in style long? Well I have just the thing for you! Alice + Olivia agrees with that same issue, and that's why they have launched a shoe and handbag line at Payless! Same great styles from the runway, but at an even better price!

Oat & Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe

OK, I am all about natural and organic products that are great for personal use. I have found a great recipe for Oat and Brown Sugar Facial Scrub that does wonders. You don't have to go spend all these crazy amounts of money on various facial products, when you have the natural ingredients right in you kitchen. Check out this recipe and hope you love it as much as I do!

2 Tbsp. ground oats
2 tsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. aloe vera
1 tsp. lemon juice

Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl until you have a smooth paste. Gently massage onto damp skin, and rinse off with warm water. You can triple the recipe for a fantastic smoothing body treatment.

Ground Oats: use rolled oats and a clean coffee grinder or blender to grind the flakes to a fine powder.

Storage: This recipe is perishable and should be used right away.

Did you know?

Oatmeal is highly absorptive, hypoallergenic, and helps to soften skin. Oats have the best amino acid balance of all the cereal grains (amino acids work as water-binding agents in skin care products). Oats have also been clinically shown to help heal dry, itchy skin. Oat grains and straw appear in shampoos, dusting powders, moisturizers, and cleansing bars and more.

Aloe Vera - The juice of this plant helps reduce pain, gel from plant helps prevent infection and speeds healing of burns, drink helps reduce size of kidney stones.

Getting Focused on a Heathly Life!

OK, so I have been doing a little research and have been able to find some great health tips and awesome ideas on living a healthier life. There is always some type of quick fix diet to get us into that dress for a major event, but that's not what is important, changing your eating habits and exercising is about a change of lifestyle.

Here are a few health tips:

1. Eat six smaller meals a day, one every three hours.
2. Eat lean protein and complex carbs at every meal.
3. No sugar, no trans fat, no boxed or processed foods.
4. Alcohol is a rare treat.
5. Drink lots of water.

Here are a few sample meals to give you an idea of some healthy options:

Breakfast
Oatmeal with berries, hard-boiled egg whites, black coffee; or small whole-grain wrap with scrambled egg whites, tomatoes and mushrooms, black coffee. Water.

Lunch
Mixed greens, sliced tomatoes, grilled chicken, one piece of organic whole-grain bread; or turkey breast on baby spinach salad with sprouts and mixed greens. Water or green tea.

Dinner
Grilled fillet of salmon, brown rice, stir-fried bok choy; or whole grain spaghetti with homemade turkey meatballs, asparagus, baby spinach and mushrooms. Water.

Now I'm not saying that all of these drastic changes are necessary in your life, but just by changing some of those not so great habits to a few healthy ones, I guarantee that you will feel better and have more energy!

Women Beauty Myths: Fact or Fiction?

Myth: Chocolate makes you break out.
Fiction. Chocolate won't cause a breakout, but it is true that a poor diet can irritate your skin, so try to limit your chocolate cravings!

Myth: Cucumbers will help de-puff your eyes.
Fact. Eye puffiness can be genetic, but there are definitely things you can do to reduce darkness and those puffy bags we loathe! Cucumbers can do the trick — and so can anything that's cold and can be easily applied to your eyes. The coldness restricts blood vessels which reduces swelling and puffiness. Just make sure to limit the application to about five minutes for optimal results.

Myth: Your cell phone can make you break out.
Fact. Okay this is gross, but...apparently cell phones are premiere breeding grounds for germs. Some experts say the average cell phone has more germs than doorknobs and even toilet seats — yuck! Make sure you take a clean cloth to your cell phone screen every so often to help get rid of any breakout-causing germs!

Myth: Waxing or shaving will make my hair grow back thicker.
Fiction. Contrary to popular belief, shaving and waxing will not make hair grow back thicker. Most people think this is true because when hair grows back in after waxing/shaving, the hair is a bit shorter than normal, therefore seeming thicker and coarser while longer hair appears more fine.

Myth: Popping a zit is fine if only done once in awhile.
Fiction. Please try your hardest to leave your skin alone — especially during a breakout! Messing with a zit will spread oil and bacteria to the clean parts of your skin. Plus, popping a zit will undoubtedly aggravate your pores and won't leave you with the fresh-looking skin you were after in the first place!

Myth: Drinking lots of water will keep my skin healthy.
Fact. Drinking water will definitely keep you hydrated and healthy and those benefits apply to your skin too! Next time you're craving a soda, reach for a tall glass of water instead — trust us, your skin will thank you!

Myth: The best place to apply perfume is on pulse points.
Fact. Applying perfume to pulse points is the best way to make your scent last all day. Fragrances react with heat, so spritz your perfume on your wrists or the back of your neck and you won't need to worry about re-applying.

Myth: Tanning in the sun clears up bad skin.
Fiction. No way! Sun exposure just causes additional skin irritation and damage. Make sure to cover your face with a good oil-free sunblock to prevent any additional irritation if you're going to be out in the sun.

Myth: Avocados can make a great skin mask.
Fact. Sounds weird, but it works! Mash one ripe avocado and mix it with a little bit of lemon juice. Apply this mask to your face and neck for an over-the-counter toner/firmer.

Myth: I pluck one gray hair, multiple gray hairs will grow back in it's place.
Fiction. This isn't true — which is good because some of us were starting to worry! While plucking gray hairs won't make more grow back in its place, it's not a good habit to get into since it can damage the root.

Myth: Sleeping on your back may prevent wrinkles.
Fact. After hearing this, we're never sleeping on our sides again! The American Academy of Dermatology says that sleeping in certain positions may result in "sleep lines." After time, these lines can turn into deep-set wrinkles, so flip over and get your shut-eye on your back.

Myth: Beauty products have an expiration date.
Fact. That's right — just like groceries, your beauty and hair products have a shelf life, too. The expiration date depends on the beauty product. Here are a couple common ones:
Mascara and Liquid Eye Liners: 3 months
Liquid Face Makeup, Cream Eye Shadow: 6 months
Powder Face Makeup, Powder Eye Shadows, Pencil Eye Liners, Lipstick, Lip gloss: 2 years

I hope that these responses to some of these old myths were helpful to you. Myths are a hard thing to pull the truth out of, but here is a start!
